Most of the institutions listed on this page are in Israel

A bouquet from the web-site of Biotechnology Industry Organisation: Israel, the land of milk and honey, has become a burgeoning bioscience center. Not only does Israel have more physicians and scientists per capita than any other, but over one third of the country's civilian research is in the life sciences. Renowned research institutions, such as the Weizmann Institute of Science, Hebrew University, the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology and Tel Aviv University, produce several of the world's leading biotech scientists. According to respected British biomedical publication, The Lancet, Israel is ranked first per capita in the production/publication of peer-reviewed research and technical papers. Israel is home to nearly 200 bioscience companies - many, including Teva Pharmaceuticals and Compugen, leading their industry.
